In addition to our assisted living and adult daycare services, Governor’s Glen in Forest Park also offers short term respite care for senior citizens with memory disorders who are under the supervision of family members. In many instances, family members provide consistent in-home care for elderly relatives who suffer from dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or other memory loss problems.
Providing constant care for a loved one who has a cognitive impairment can be tiring. Governor’s Glen respite care option provides families a break from care giving. Every senior citizen in our respite care program is provided three meals and two snacks a day by our staff chef as well as a private room with furniture for the duration of their temporary stay.
Family members can rest easy with their loved ones in our care. With a licensed nurse on staff and connections to emergency services, Governor’s Glen is prepared if any emergency situation occurs. Our staff members are fully trained at working with senior citizens with different levels of memory impairment from dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Furthermore, our staff can handle daily medication management and our meal staff can accommodate any unique dietary needs.
At Governor’s Glen our goal is to improve the quality of life of our residents through socialization and stimulation of the body and mind. During their short stay with us, respite care visitors will be part of an active community as well as enjoy our entertainment area, barber, or beauty salon, screened outdoor porch, as well as a wide variety of exercise and other activity classes geared toward their specific level of cognitive functioning.
