A: Assisted Living combines housing, supportive services, social activities and health care designed to meet the needs of seniors who need assistance with their activities of daily living. We differ from a nursing home because we do not provide complex medical or nursing care.
A: We provide meals and snacks, housekeeping, assistance with bathing, dressing, toileting and walking. We also provide access to medical healthcare services for all our residents and short term care visitors in addition to 24-hour staffing within a secured environment. Even further, our staff covers medication management and laundry services as well as social and recreational activities.
A: Governor’s Glen provides all of the same services other assisted living homes provide. The difference is that we only care for residents with memory impairment. All of our residents have some form of dementia or memory loss, including Alzheimer’s disease.
A: Absolutely! We welcome residents of all faiths, cultures, and ethnic backgrounds.
A: Yes, we provide programs that incorporate exercise and current events on a daily basis. We provide activities that include artistic creativity as well as spiritual, social, and intellectual stimulation. We also welcome family members to make recommendations to our Activities Director for consideration.
A: Since all of our residents have some form of memory impairment, we provide private and semi-private rooms, but not apartments.
A: We can provide information on how to apply for Aid & Attendance. This benefit is set up for veterans and their surviving spouse. Depending on monthly income and monthly expenses, veterans or their spouse may qualify for this benefit.
A: Yes. We provide medication maintenance for all residents’ that are taking medications. We use a local pharmacy and their bubble wrap system for accuracy.
A: We do not provide furnished rooms except for our adult daycare and short-term stay programs. Since this is now your home, we want it to feel and look like your home. Our rooms can accommodate a twin or full size bed along with average sizes and amounts of other furnishings you will need. Please feel free to decorate your room with your personal pictures and accessories so that it becomes your home.
A: Yes we do. Please call and ask for the Community Relations Coordinator for a tour and specific information.
A: No. We do not restrict visiting hours and welcome visitors at any time.
A: Yes. We request all nutritional information prior to move-in so the Chef is prepared for all medically necessary food requirements and for any resident preferences, such as specific likes and dislikes.
A: Absolutely not. Please call our Community Relations Coordinator and we will get the process started for you immediately. Once you and the doctor your parent has been seeing provides us with all necessary documents, we can facilitate a move very quickly.
